Androsia Hand Made Batik was established by the Birch family in 1960 on Andros Island, a remote Out Island in The Bahamas. Our goal was to showcase the natural beauty of a newly independent Bahamas and, engaging with our local community, create something beautiful on our small (big) Island home. Over 40 years later we are still creating our hand made textiles with love and pride.

Androsia Hand Made Batik began on the shores of Andros in the late 1960s, inspired by the vision of founder Rosi Birch.
Rosi discovered batik, a simple yet vibrant art form, and immediately saw its potential to thrive on the island. More than just a craft, she envisioned it as a meaningful way to empower the local community, especially women, by providing creative opportunities and sustainable employment.
